THE VOICE IN THE HAND: Book Arts and Printmaking

September 28 to November 4, 2023
Petaluma Arts Center, Petaluma, CA
Curated by Macy Chadwick

Eight of my works are included in this exhibition which highlights the unique tactile qualities, or "visual voice" of handmade books and prints. Unlike the digital images we encounter every day, each work presented here was hand-carved, etched, exposed, or drawn into a plate that was inked and pressed – using the weight of a printing press – onto paper, often one color at a time.

Opening reception: September 28, 5:30-7:30pm
Walk-through and discussion of the work at PAC with the curator: Saturday, October 28, 2-4pm.
Members: $12 Non-Members $15

ABSTRACT NATURE / Marin Art and Garden Center

Nick Taylor / Sculpture      Katherine Warinner / Prints

Kate Eilertsen / Curator

No one can compete with the beauty, power and inspiration nature gives us. None of us see the same thing when we look at a tree, branch or even a leaf. Artists Nick Taylor and Katherine Warinner, in this exhibition, will share with us, the myriad of impressions they see when looking out a window or walking through a forest. Katherine’s  beautiful, contemplative monotypes and Nick’s organic, commanding sculptures leave us with a  new impression of all that can be found in nature. After all, each encounter with nature, is unique. —Kate Eilersten, Curator
